Cosmic Inner Space and Deepwater Corals

WHAT IS the difference between an “innie” and an “outie?” No, I am not talking about belly buttons, but instead reference points relative to where we live in the cosmos. Outer space and inner space are vastly different from each other, and from our normal existence on Earth. Standing on land we should take the time to contemplate the outer world above us as well as the inner world below us. Remarkably, our planet fully spins on its axis daily, and if you were near the equator, you would be moving at 460 meters per second or roughly 1,000 miles per hour! The Earth does this while also moving around the sun at 30,000 meters per second or 67,000 miles per hour!1 Wow! Hold on to your seat! Incredibly, our whole solar system is also moving around the Milky Way, in our own spherical galaxy. This is why we can get a glimpse of the Milky Way on clear nights during certain times of the year. It is a wonder that on Earth we don’t get dizzy or feel any “g-factors” of movement at any time, but thankfully, that’s due to the “gravity of our situation.”
